L’ouvrage commence par quelques rappels mathématiques sur les puissances, les logarithmes, les suites arithmétiques et géométriques;
l’auteur démontre ensuite des formules utilisées pour le calcul des intérêts simples, les intérêts composés, les emprunts indivis avec remboursement par annuités constantes, ce qui représente les cas les plus fréquents pour les crédits à la consommation.
Des exercices corrigés illustrent les concepts évoqués. Sont également abordés : les rentes, les emprunts obligataires, les choix d’investissement. L’utilisation d’un tableur permet d’effectuer ces calculs; l’avantage, en lisant cet ouvrage, est de comprendre ce que l’on fait.

J’ai eu le plaisir d’avoir suivi les cours de Mr Schlacther lors de mon MBA à Sciences-Po Paris et la clarté du discours se retrouve dans cet ouvrage pédagogique, illustré d’exemples et de graphiques. En prime il est indiqué l’utilisation des formules et exemples sur une calculette financière (Casio FC 100), aisément transposable sur les HP 17 B II par exemple.

C’est un ouvrage concis, permettant de s’initier et de maîtriser rapidement les mécanismes principaux utilisées en finance.
